Bachelor of Physiotherapy


Physiotherapy is a medical science field which uses physical agents like exercise, massage and other modalities for providing treatment to those patients whose movement and function are threatened by ageing, injury, disease or environmental factors. Bachelor of Physiotherapy is an Under Graduate Degree which is awarded for a course or program in Physiotherapy. It is also known as BPT which is an abbreviated form of Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree. The duration of BPT is 4½ years including internship of 6 months. Physical Therapy Programs provide core skills like manual therapy, the rapeutic exercise and the application of electro physical modalities, to the prospective students.

Eligibility Criteria for Bachelor of Physiotherapy


For pursuing the B.P.T program, the candidates need to clear the 12th standard. They should have obtained at least 50% of marks in Biology, Physics and Chemistry including practical. Aspirants must have passed each subject separately. A Common Entrance Test (CET) is carried out for selecting the aspirants. The CET score is considered for the admission process to the course. The applicants must have reached at least a minimum 17 years of age for applying the B.P.T program.

  • A Physiotherapist can go for documentation in a sub-specialty of Physiotherapy. Some of the specialty areas are like sports therapy, pediatric, electrophysiological physical therapy etc.

B.P.T Entrance Exam Pattern


The entrance test duration is 31/2 hours. The entrance exam covers multiple-type objective questions. There will be a maximum of 200 questions. The questions are taken from 5 subjects. They include Physics, Zoology. Some other subjects are like, Chemistry and Botany. English is also another subject. There will be equal number of questions from all these subjects. There is no negative mark for the incorrect answer. The students need to choose suitable answer from the given alternatives. The applicants must practice last year question papers for performing properly in the exam. Students are advised to work on test topics according to the significance of the subject and weight-age in test.
