Bachelors in pharmacy
B-Pharma or Bachelor of Pharmacy is an academic degree offered at the undergraduate level in India. This qualification is the fundamental requirement for getting the license to work as a pharmacist.
THE pharma industry in India is nearly a hundred years old. Today, the Indian market comprises over 25,000 manufacturing units and according to government statistics one-fifth of them makes bulk drugs.
Candidates who possess 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Maths/Biology (PCM/PCB) are admitted to the 4-year Bachelor’s programme (Bachelor of Pharmacy or B Pharm).
Eligiblity
The eligibility criterion to take these tests is almost the same. The candidate should have studied physics, chemistry and biology is the 12th STD. They should have achieved at least 50% in the 12th STD (the minimum marks required may differ for various colleges). Students awaiting results are also eligible to apply.
Entrance exams
Common Entrance Test is a test conducted by each state for admission to its Engineering and Medical colleges. This test is also taken by those interested in careers in dentistry and pharmacology. Some of these are CET Karnataka, CET Punjab, CEE Kerala, JEE West Bengal, DUMET Delhi, GUJCET Gujarat, etc.
ENAT – Manipal University conducts this test for admission to College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal.
AIMS Medical Entrance- This test is conducted by Amrita Institute of Medical Science. The School of Pharmacy in Cochin takes the AIMS score.
BHU Entrance Test – The Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi conducts the Pharmacy Admission Test which is conducted with the pre medical test. for admission to its pharmacology department.
Poona College of Pharmacy B Pharm Entrance Exam – This test is conducted by the Poona college of Pharmacy which is affiliated to the Bharatiya Vidyapeeth University.
SRM All India Entrance Exam –Sri Ramachandra Medical College, is a deemed university, that conducts this test for admission to its various Para-medical courses.
EAMCET – This test is conducted by the Andhra University. Most pharmacy college under this university takes the EAMCET scores.

Current Scenario of B Pharma in India
In India, a number of states make it compulsory for the students to appear for an extra Pharmacy entrance exam so that they can qualify for the B-Pharma study program.
Alternatively, students who have passed D.Pharma or Diploma in Pharmacy will qualify for enrolment into the B-Pharma course in the second year straightaway through lateral entry. It has been laid down by the Union Government of India that the colleges offering degrees or diplomas in pharmacy (B.Pharma, D.Pharma, M.Pharma or Pharm D) should have the accreditation of the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) or All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).
